Zeta has released a new version of their front brake rotor guard, and it is now available for the Honda CRF250L. These new "Pro Model" plastic protectors are available in White or Black plastic, and cover the front brake rotor as well as the caliper. You can also get the standard model (doesn't cover caliper) in Black Plastic or Carbon Fiber.
If you're looking to get rid of that big ugly plastic chain cover bolted to the swingarm of your CRF250L, Zeta has you covered. They offer a slick looking titanium-colored CNC Machined Aluminum Heel Guard / Chain Cover that bolts right up using the stock mounting points and hardware (no modifications required).
We recently installed Zeta Armor Hand Guards with Zeta XC Flasher Protectors on our Honda CRF250L. Click video above for a brief overview. Instructions are included with the handguards, but here are the basic steps for the installation...
• Remove factory headlight and un-bolt the factory turn signals
• Wiring... we cut the wires coming out of the stock turn signals to retain the OEM connectors on them. We spliced them together with the wires for the Zeta Handguard Flashers, then plugged it all into the harness on the bike.
The instructions didn't get into detail about matching the wires up, so we had to figure that out ourselves... here's how it went...
RIGHT SIDE:
Factory Green Wire (Ground) goes to the Black Zeta handguard wire
Blue Solid Wire (Turn Signal) goes to the Red Zeta handguard wire
Blue Striped Wire (Running Light) not used
LEFT SIDE:
Factory Green Wire (Ground) goes to the Black Zeta handguard wire
Orange Solid Wire (Turn Signal) goes to the Red Zeta handguard wire
Orange Striped Wire (Running Light) not used
• Once wiring is done, test to make sure the flashers work
• Install aluminum Zeta Armor Handguard on handlebars (instructions included with the handguards). We drilled a hole through the left hand grip to get the insert into the handlebar end, and on the throttle side we trimmed off the end of the grip and end of the throttle tube. Be sure the edge of your throttle tube does not contact the handguard insert.
• Bolt up the XC Flasher protectors to the Armor Handguards, secure wiring where necessary with zip ties, and make necessary adjustments
Last night I installed a few Zeta parts on the CFR250L project bike. On the left side of the bike (top photo) I added a red Zeta drive/sprocket cover and pair of red Zeta engine plugs. On the right side of the bike (photo bottom left) I went with a red Zeta oil filler plug and red Zeta oil filter cover. Out back I added a pair of red Zeta axle blocks. I think it looks pretty damn nice!
The radiator on the CRF250L (shown above bottom/left) is pretty vulnerable to damage. In stock form, the only thing protecting it is the plastic tank shroud and a flimsy black plastic guard. I wanted a sturdy guard that would completely surround the radiator and shield it from front and side impacts. The solution would be Flatland Racing's aluminum radiator guard, which fits the 2013+ Honda CRF250L.
Installation:
Installation was pretty simple. The guard comes with instructions and all mounting hardware. You basically remove your seat and left plastic tank shroud, then remove the black plastic radiator guard that comes on the bike. You then remove the bolts holding the radiator to the frame, put the Flatland Racing guard in place around the radiator, and put the two radiator bolts back in. The third mounting point for the guard uses one of the bolts that holds the plastic tank shroud to the frame. It's all pretty straightforward, but two of the three bolts are hard to get to, so a long thin socket extension will make your life easier. Once the radiator guard is on, you just put the tank shroud (shown above bottom/right) and seat back on, and you're ready to ride.
Final Product:
Once installed (top photo above), you can tell how sturdy the guard is. It is constructed from 1/8" aluminum and mounts to 3 different locations on the frame. It completely surrounds the radiator and should do a great job of protecting it from front and side impacts.
Another popular upgrade for the CRF250L is a set of hand guards to protect your hands, levers, and so on. Zeta offers their popular Armor Hand Guards, along with their plastic XC protectors which bolt directly to the aluminum hand guards. You can also get the XC Protectors with built in flashers/turn signals (as shown in photos above).
Flatland Racing skid plates are some of the finest on the market. The welds, attention to detail, and fit and finish are second to none. Their new skid plate for the Honda CRF250L is one of our favorite must-have mods.
Installation is very simple with just two mounting points at the front, and two at the rear where they've designed the skid plate so it is securely attached to the frame of the bike. Coverage and protection is excellent. There is also an oversized oil drain plug on the bottom to make draining your oil a breeze. This is definitely one of our most recommended mods for the CRF250L.
Flatland Racing makes some of the highest quality skid plates, radiator guards, and cargo racks on the market. The welding on their parts is a work of art. They just released their new skid plate, radiator guard, and "Carry All" cargo rack for the new Honda CRF250L dual sport bike. You won't find higher quality stuff, and it's all made here in the USA!
